Crowstep Projects is a new, independent curatorial platform based in Washington, D.C. Committed to bringing together artists and audiences across philosophical, political, and cultural backgrounds, we develop exhibitions and programs that invite people to see and imagine the world from viewpoints other than their own.
Crowstep showcases art, architecture, and design from the past and present. We collaborate with artists working locally, nationally, and internationally, including those working outside major metropolitan art centers. Our program highlights both emerging and established artists whose work engages deeply with materials, processes, and ideas.
Founded on the conviction that the experience of looking carefully at and talking about art can build the capacity for civil discourse, Crowstep curates shows that invite sustained reflection and dialogue.
What’s a crowstep? This tiered architectural form, often found on gables in Northern Europe, creates a distinctive roofline and provides the birds that land on it with multiple vantage points from which to look out onto the world.
